Suicides in the Aftermath of the Tsunami
by Kevin Caruso
December 30, 2004
The devastating tsunami that hit on December 26, 2004, is taking a horrible toll in numerous ways.
The death toll continues to climb every day.
Innumerable people have lost their homes.
Entire communities have been devastated.
And, sadly, I have been receiving reports of overwhelmed individuals dying by suicide.
And, unfortunately, the disaster will have long-term psychological implications for all
of those who were involved.
I can only hope that everyone in need of psychological assistance does indeed get the help that they need.
For everyone that has sent e-mails with regard to the disaster, let me say that I am very sorry for any losses that you or anyone who you know may have suffered, and my heart is 100% with you.
And please reach out for help in every way that you can.
For those who have sent e-mails wanting to know how to help, please visit Tsunamis.com.
It lists the best charities to donate to and gives important information that you
should know before donating:

And for anyone who was affected in any way by this horrible disaster, please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers - and please reach out for help when you need it.
And remember that suicide is never the answer.
Getting help is the answer.
If you or someone you know is suicidal, please go to the Home Page of this website for immediate help.
Thank you.
I love you.
Take care,
Kevin Caruso
