Man Dies by Suicide, Unintentionally Shoots Wife

A businessman in El Cajon, California, who was suffering from depression, raised a gun to his head on September 22, 2004.
His wife, who was standing just a few feet away, screamed for him to stop and ran towards him to try to prevent him from shooting himself.
As she ran towards him, he shot himself in the head; the bullet then passed through his head and hit her in the shoulder.
The man died at the scene, and the woman is in the hospital in stable condition.
The names of the individuals have not been released.
